Dr. Patrick Byrne teaches and conducts research in plant breeding and genetics at Colorado State University, USA. His research focuses on the genetics of drought tolerance and agronomic traits in wheat and disease resistance in dry beans. He has done extensive outreach on the benefits and risks of genetically engineered crops. Dr. Byrne received his graduate degrees from the University of Missouri, and has worked for agricultural development agencies in Mexico, West Africa, and Nepal.
