Şamil Gökberk who was born in İstanbul,started musical education at Istanbul State Conservatorium.He studied with Mustafa İktu here and graduated in 1979.The same year he was assignet to Istanbul State Opera and Ballet.İn this Company he worked singing technique and repertoire with Güher Güney and Dan Serbac; in Ankara with Professor Mustafa Yurdakul.He studied on interpretation of Lied,Oratorio and Mozart Operas with professor Ernst Haefliger in “Zurich Meister kurse für music”and recieved tree certificate from that foundation.
The principal roles he performed:Don Giovanni;Don Ottavio,L’İtaliana in Algeri;Lindoro,Die Verkaufte Braut;Vasek,Haensel und Gretel;Knusperhexe,Die Fledermaus;Eisenstein,Ali baba&40;Ali Baba.Aside from domestic and overseas tours and conserts,he made radio and TV programs.He was assignet to Menager and Artistic Director of İstanbul State Opera and Ballet in 2014.Retired as Menager and Artistic Director of the company.
Besides being an opera soloist he gave singing lessons at ITU State Conservatorium,Marmara University Music Education Faculty,M.S.G.S.University State Consevatorium and Halic University Conservatorium.He did research on fonoloji and voice disorders,sertificated “Clinic Vocoloji”.
He made two presentation at Marmara University: “Importance of vocal exercises on rehabilitation of voice”in Voice Education Workshop(2017).”Articulation”in International Voice Day”Symposium (2018)
He still continues to give singing lessons.
