Dr. Münevver Cebeci is an Assistant Professor at the European Union Institute (A Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence), Marmara University in Istanbul. She teaches “European Foreign Policy”, “Security Studies” and “History of Political Thought” at various universities in Istanbul, including Bilgi University and the War Colleges. She is also the lecturer of the Jean Monnet Permanent Course “International Politics of the European Union”, supported by the European Commission. She is a former visiting fellow of the EU Institute for Security Studies (then, the WEU Institute for Security Studies). She holds a PhD in EU Politics and International Relations from the European Union Institute, Marmara University, an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics (as a Jean Monnet scholar) and an MA in International Relations from the Social Sciences Institute, Marmara University. She has published numerous scholarly articles in edited books and journals, as well as several reports, including an Occasional Paper from the EU Institute for Security Studies. She has a co-edited book entitled Human Rights Education and Practice in Turkey in the Process of Candidacy to the EU. She is also a peer reviewer for several scholarly journals including the European Journal of International Relations. Her research interests include Security Studies, Processes of Securitization and Desecuritization in Turkey and European Foreign Policy – especially, the European Security and Defence Policy, the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and the European Neighbourhood Policy. Her latest book “Issues in EU and US Foreign Policy” – an edited volume – is published by Lexington Books, a division of Rowman and Littlefield, in January 2011.
